I downloaded docker and used this command : docker run --rm -it -p 8080:8080 -p 9080:9080 -p 8000:8000 dgraph/standalone:latest

Then I got this in my power shell terminal (I have used bash and others too)  
Unable to find image ‘dgraph/standalone:latest’ locally

When I try to enter localhost:8000, it doesn’t work.

Are you sure you are using a native Docker installation? If not, you should try to get the machine’s (in general it is a hyper-v VM on Windows) IP. And access it via it’s IP. e.g: 192.168.99.1:8000

If it is a native installation, check your docker configs. Not sure how it works on Windows. In my mind, it should forward the port to the localhost automatically.

You can also do a test to check if the Ratel UI is really running.

Run:

```auto
docker ps

```

Get the container ID and then:

```auto
docker exec -it $ContainerID sh

```

So you gonna be inside the container. You can run:

```auto
curl localhost:8000

```

If you get a giant HTLM body in the response it means that it is running and the issue is related to Docker.

```auto
<!doctype html><html lang="en"><head><meta charset="utf-8">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width,initial-scale=1">

```

localhost didn’t work for me while trying out Dgraph.

But when I used:

> 127.0.0.1/8000

It worked like charm!

Thank you so much. I am using a native Docker installation and I thought it would forward to localhost automatically, but it didn’t. When I tried it with the machine’s IP it worked great (192.168.99.1:8000). Thank you once again for your fast solution.

The 127.0.0.1 I think is my localhost so it’s not working. I needed to use the IP of the machine that uses docker since it’s not forwarding to the localhost automatically. But thank you for you solution, I was so stressed out hehe

I have this issue. This is what my terminal output looks like:

I assumed that `dgraph-ratel` was included as part of the standalone docker image? This is what is specified by the docs: [https://dgraph.io/docs/tutorial-1/](https://dgraph.io/docs/tutorial-1/)

I don’t think so. As Ratel was a kind of a “bundle” in the main binary deployment.

Run [play.dgraph.io](http://play.dgraph.io)

I’m trying to set up a local development environment, are you suggesting I use a hosted Dgraph instance for development?

The suggestion is to use [play.dgraph.io](http://play.dgraph.io) and use the connection settings to connect to 127.0.0.1:8080 (or wherever your database actually is)

The only reason you would want to run ratel is if you cannot access the internet, which will be a very small amount of users.

Hi,  
When I check the image with version `dgraph/standalone:v21.03.0` I can’t see a running 8000 port. Actually I think this image is the source of the problem.

When I change image version to `dgraph/standalone:v20.03.0` everything okey.  
I can’t send second image because of I’m a new user.

Source of the problem is this binary `/usr/local/bin/dgraph-ratel` doesn’t exists in `dgraph/standalone:v21.03.0`
