Using @auth on individual fields?

I have obviously been asking for an update several times, to no avail:

@aman-bansal - Since you guys are taking a big longer than expected for 21.09, do you think you could go ahead and add this update-after feature to it? There are no GraphQL features in 21.09 (I consider the null thing a bug fix), and this feature alone would go along way to appease your users. It is so powerful it opens so many doors to so many things, and should be quite easy to implement. Thanks! J

And yesterday, with no organization, on a random post, and ignoring the many other post asking for updates, we got this:

The next release will be out soon. The version will be v21.12.

This seems to be not the next major release, so next July? Not a joke, I have no idea what that means. 21.12 does not seem to contain any new features for GraphQL, although I have seen other posts claiming it will contain minor features bug fixes (they call new features). At this point, I am very confused on what any of this means and cannot get a straight answer from anyone.

So that being said, I guess I am happy 21.12 will be release so that I can look forward to 22.07 maybe where they promised me the @update-after-auth fix?

No clue. All we have is nothing but questions at this point.
