This shows both grpc and http, as I was generating mixed traffic, and then it shows going from Alpha pod to Zero. Everything is going through the mesh.

I published a blog on this Dgraph + Istio Service mesh for automatic gRPC load balancing + mTLS between pods. Side bonus is that Prometheus, Jaeger, and Grafana are installed and configured to monitor all network traffic in the mesh. There’s a really cool visualization tool (Kiali) that allows you to watch the traffic through Dgraph, measure the latency.
