Official funding announcement

Hello Dgraph Community,

I am delighted to share that Dgraph has raised a new round of capital from a world class group of investors. The details are in the press release: Popular Open Source GraphQL Company Dgraph Secures $6M in Seed Round with New Leadership

The community is the most important part of Dgraph’s success and we are eager to get back to building and supporting the Dgraph project together.

This is the beginning of an exciting journey for Dgraph. We have a lot to do and are looking forward to working closely with the community.

There are a number of exciting updates I would like to share with you:

  1. We are rebuilding and growing the engineering and other teams. Please reach out to us if you or someone you know is interested.

  2. We are delighted to announce that our CTO, Dr. Gajanan Chinchwadkar, recently joined us. He comes to Dgraph with over 25 years of industry, research and teaching experience. We are thrilled to have him. Please stay tuned. He will be introducing himself shortly.

  3. Several improvements have been in the pipeline focused on reliability, availability, and operability, both for the open project and cloud services. We will also address the concerns from 21.12 and expect to push a new release this summer. As well as improving the GraphQL implementation, we are pushing the boundaries and innovating while still adhering to the standards.

  4. The user community is essential to us. We are committed to ensuring that Dgraph continues to transform and realize its true potential. This will be done by ensuring that contribution, community involvement, and feedback are part of the Dgraph fabric. We will begin by building a community advisory board (like a pseudo PMC), hiring a developer relations team, publishing a longer term roadmap with clarity between the community and enterprise versions, and actively working with our community to push the project forward. We are making a commitment to ensuring the open core continues to be supported and funded for the long term.

We are grateful to the Dgraph user community and customers for the continued support as we embark upon this exciting new chapter. Please reach out and share your feedback and thoughts with us. We are looking forward to working with you all.
